The South Orange County Parkinson's Support Group now has a second support group, which is just for the care partners or future care partners of People with Parkinson's (PwP). It is an opportunity to meet other care partners who are in a similar situation and ask questions, compare, share, and provide support.

The group is facilitated by Renee Lorch, MA, LMFT, a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Orange County whose primary focus is working with individuals affected by neurocognitive disorders.

The group is administered by Donna Clervi, who facilitates the regular PwP group.

Who should attend?

Unlike our regular PwP support group, where PwP and caregivers are both welcome and encouraged to attend, this carepartner group is just for the care partner(s); therefore we ask that the PwP not attend.  This is so that the care partner participants can be free and open to express their feelings, concerns and opinions without causing undue concern for the PwP.  PwP certainly recognize and appreciate what the care partners do for them and they are generally supportive of this arrangement.

When do we meet?  

   Every other Monday from 4;00 PM to 5:00 PM

Where do we meet? 

   Online via Zoom. A Zoom link will be included in an email prior to the meeting. Unlike the regular support group meetings, the link for the care partner meetings will not be provided online here. So make sure you are on the care partner specific mailing list. If you are not, sign up here.

Can I attend this meeting even if I don't attend the meetings with the PwP on Thursdays?

    Certainly.  While the two meetings are run by the same organization, they are distinct meetings.
